ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Yoga and Ayurveda have the same origin and the same goal: improving the health of the body, the mind and the soul. This 8 day program aims to be a complete healing with both the methods of yoga and meditation and the methods of Ayurveda.

Ayurvedic medicine is one of the world’s oldest holistic (“whole-body”) healing systems. It was developed more than 5,000 years ago in East Asia. It’s based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Its main goal is to promote good health and prevent diseases. During this retreat you will benefit from consultations with an Ayurvedic physician and receive advice to live a healthier life.

In addition to the daily Ashram schedule, you will enjoy 7 Ayurveda workshops

AYURVEDA PACKAGE

Ayurvedic doctors regard physical existence, mental existence, and personality as a unit, with each element being able to influence the others. This holistic approach is used during diagnosis and therapy, and is a fundamental aspect of Ayurveda. Your Yoga and Ayurveda retreat will be adapted to your specific needs.

Day 1: Introduction consultation with our Ayurvedic doctor

During this first consultation with the Ayurveda specialist you will discover the basics of Ayurveda. You will discover the basics fundamentals of Ayurveda, the details about the content and the goals of your program. Then the doctor will examine your body and take an extensive personal and medical history, including questions about daily diet, profession and working conditions, exercise routines, relationships, and mental health. This process helps the practitioner to identify key symptoms and potential causes of imbalance and determine suitable treatment options.

Day 2: Dosha (body type) determination

According to the Ayurvedic science, the body is made of the 5 elements (air, space, fire, water and earth). Those 5 elements are combined in the body to form 3 groups of life force or energies called the doshas. You will discover which dosha you are from our Ayurvedic doctor. Our Ayurvedic practitioner will create a treatment plan specifically designed for you according to your dosha, your physical and emotional makeup, and the balance between all three of these elements. In Ayurveda, all the treatments are individualized and specifically adapted to you.

Day 3 : Ayurvedic treatment

Ayurvedic treatment seeks to re-establish balance and harmony in the body’s systems. Usually the first method of treatment involves some form of detoxification and cleansing of the body, in the belief that accumulated toxins must be removed before any other methods of treatment will be effective. Our Ayurvedic doctor has a wide array of treatments and therapies at his disposal. Based on the information gathered during the first and second days, the doctor will prescribe one Ayurveda treatment.

Ayurvedic massage is a key part of Ayurvedic therapy. Just as a machine needs to be oiled, the body loves to have its largest organ, the skin, soothed, which is why oils are commonly used in Ayurvedic massage. Over 5,000 years of empirical research has refined Ayurvedic massage into a sublime art. Combining skilled knowledge of the body with knowledge of oils, and bodywork techniques has resulted in a profound art for balancing the body and mind through the medium of oil massage. It is one of Ancient Asia’s best-kept secrets. This treatment is performed by trained therapists who work under the supervision of our Ayurvedic doctor. Oils are selected and prepared according to the doctor’s specific diagnosis.

Day 5 : Cooking class

Ayurvedic diet and nutrition practices are vital to healthy living, and are important components of treatment, recovery, and disease management. Dietary practices are advised to each individual’s constitution, with six primary “tastes” forming the basis for the practitioners’ recommendations:

  • Sweet: promotes strength and nourishes all tissues
  • Sour: stimulates digestive power
  • Salty: maintains water electrolyte balance
  • Pungent: improves digestion and absorption
  • Bitter: stimulates all other tastes
  • Astringent: helps in absorption

During this cooking class with our Ayurvedic doctor, you will learn how to adjust your diet according to your specific needs.

Day 6 : Therapeutical asanas

It is widely known that Yoga can enhance your physical and emotional well being; and when Yoga is practiced with a therapeutic intention in the form of Yoga Therapy, it can help prevent and aid recovery from physical and mental ailments. Yoga therapy is derived from the Yoga tradition of Patanjali and the Ayurvedic system of health care. It aims to adapt and apply Yoga techniques and practices to help individuals face health challenges at any level, manage their condition, reduce symptoms, restore balance, increase vitality, and improve attitude. According to the recommendations of the Ayurvedic doctor, some specific and adapted asanas will be provided in a one on one session.

Day 7 : Final consultation with our Ayurveda doctor

On the last day, you will have the opportunity to share your Ayurveda experience with the Ayurvedic doctor. During this final consultation, you will receive recommendations from the doctor which can then be applied in your life on a daily basis. The Ayurvedic doctor will also answer all remaining questions you might have during this consultation.
